Regency At Monroe News Update

THANK YOU ARTHUR EHRLICH

As you know from my last email, my website is no longer workable. The program I used is defunct after 10+ years. So Arthur Ehrlich has volunteered to help me develop a website using another program. I personally want to thank Arthur for all his work. Honestly, I am not one of those website builder types and Arthur knows everything that needs to be done

Thanks again

STATE AID FOR EDUCATION BUS TRIP TO TRENTON STATE HOUSE

Dear Friends,
As a part of the Board of Education’s continued fight for our fair share of school funding by the state, we are asking residents to join the Ad Hoc Committee members on a bus trip to the Trenton State House on Tuesday, May 2nd. Buses will be provided and will be departing the soccer fields on Prospect Plains at 8:30 a.m.
We will be returning by 2:00 p.m. If you plan on joining us, I recommend you arrive at the field parking lot by 8:15 a.m.
An improvement in our state aid situation is long overdue. Let’s join together and show Trenton how upset we are.
Sincerely,
Steve Riback

MEDICAL TALKS

Due to multiple requests, The Health Committee will launch its spring & summer lecture series with:
The Automatic External Defibrillator (A.E.D.) and Basic First Aid CPR.

Friday, May 19 – 7:00 pm
Tennis Pavilion
All are Welcome. Please Sign Up with the Concierge!

Dr. Sheldon Opperman, M.D., will be giving this previously well attended medical lecture for the fourth time:

Why are Automatic External Defibrillators so important? Because, they are the only effective way to rescue someone in cardiac arrest and they are easy to use.

For those who have already attended this lecture last year, you are welcome to refresh your knowledge and skills.

Takeaways to Include: Learning about AED’s, where to find them (we have 6 here in the Regency), and how to use them. Basic CPR, Heart Attack vs. Cardiac Arrest.

Don’t miss out on this important lecture because—The life saved may be your own or your loved one: Learn to save a life today!

HADASSAH MEETING

Regency Hadassah invites you to join us on Monday, May 15 at 7PM at the clubhouse for our monthly meeting. The Speaker for this meeting is Noah Lederman. Noah’s grandparents fought in the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Noah had a beautiful relationship with his grandparents and he is going to share their story with us: how they survived a combined seven concentration camps and then tried to keep all the stories a secret from their grandchildren. Noah spent ten years trying to uncover all of the tragic memories that they had vowed to take to their graves. Noah wrote a memoir about his grandparents. Growing up, Noah had always viewed his Grandma, whose name was “Hadasa” as a cliché: the Jewish grandmother who cooked, cleaned and kvetched. Conversely and ignorantly he had always viewed his “Poppy” as the real hero. When he set off to write a book after his grandfather passed away, the story was supposed to be about Poppy. Noah sat down with his Grandma to interview her about her late husband. And what he quickly discovered was that everything he had always thought about his Grandma was inane and wrong. She was a hero, a rebel and a survivor. Join us on May 15 at 7pm as Noah shares his grandparent’s story with us. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP by e-mail to Genia Beeferman at genhow181@gmail.com or Leslie Kohn at holekow@gmail.com so that we can prepare sufficient seating.
