CUTTING THE CORD – STREAMING TV – AND POSSIBLY WHAT YOUR COST SAVINGS WOULD BE

First, let me thank Arthur Ehrlich and Joel Iserson for meeting with me and enlightening me on when we finally CUT THE CORD. Here I am, thinking I know it all.  GUESS WHAT?  These two guys know it all and boy did they open my eyes to all sorts of things with regard to CABLE TV, INTERNET, PHONE, STREAMING.

On August 29th at 10 AM they will have a meeting in the ballroom to discuss everything I just mentioned.  If you went to their workshops, go to this meeting since new things will be presented.

With their presentation I will immediately save at least $40 on my cable and phone bills. IF YOU ARE A SNOWBIRD, THIS MEETING IS A MUST.  THEY WILL TELL YOU HOW TO SAVE MONEY WHEN YOU FLY AWAY TO YOUR WINTER HOME.

They will talk about the future of cable and what streaming is all about. You will learn how to do streaming and to try it out is FREE.  Makes no difference what kind of TV you have, streaming is available.  You can make any TV into a streaming TV.

Arthur provided me with this link:

http://www.seniortech.biz/blog/cord-cutting/best-tv-streaming-service-youtube-tv-vs-slingtv-vs-hulu-vs-playstation-vue-and-all-the-rest/

WOW! It gives you a lot of choices with streaming and current prices are included.  It lists all the channels/stations offered by each streaming service and you basically pay for whatever you use (rather than paying for 90% of the channels that you never use.

Our contract with Comcast ends November 30th which should save us $30/month.  Those who have FIOS or DISH/DIRECTV, well you no longer have to pay the $30/month for a service you don’t even use.  I checked my friends bills at Encore, who are also on their own with regard to whatever service they want and I think I would be saving another $40/month.  So saving $70/month, that’s not bad at all.

I think we owe a big THANK YOU to Arthur Ehrlich and Joel Iserson for all the time and effort they have put into dealing with our eventually cutting the cord. Keep in mind, eventually, there will no longer be a cable underground to deal with cable or internet.  Streaming will eventually be the only thing available to us.  For sure, no long term contracts since the streaming competition will soon begin.

The FINAL Cutting the Cord Basics Workshop

Wednesday Aug 29,2018 at 10 AM in the Clubhouse Ballroom

If thinking about the options to replace your cable package in your home is giving you a headache, or if you just want to see the choices available, we are here to help. This workshop will help you understand all the available options to make a decision that’s best for you.

This is a final opportunity for those who missed our previous workshops and for those who want a quick refresher. There is no limit on the number of attendees, so come one come all.

WE WANT TO HONOR THOSE OF US WHO SERVED IN THE ARMED FORCES

We are all proud of those who have fought on behalf of our country.  One resident said, let’s honor those Regency residents with a slideshow showing them in uniform.

If I get 10 or more residents sending me their picture with their uniform, on VETERAN’S DAY, we will all be viewing the slideshow and thanking each of you.

 A MUSIC REQUEST

Last week I mentioned that the person who I really enjoyed his singing had something in common with some of the residents that I listed. The singer was Kenny Vance and the song started off mentioning Erasmus Hall HS which these residents went too.

So I asked for more requests since I probably have every song of the 50’s and 60’s. WILLIE WINFIELD AND THE HARPTONES was requested.

One of their #1 hits was “LIFE IS BUT A DREAM.” However, two other singers/groups made this song famous as well.  One was the EARLS and the other was DION.  I have all 3 songs but The HARPTONES were good but the EARLS version is my favorite.  Listen to both and decide for yourself which group was better

THE HARPTONES

THE EARLS

OKAY, NOW SEND ME YOUR REQUEST FOR YOUR FAVORITE SONG AND SINGER.

ARCHITECT’S DESIGN OF OUR NEW FIREHOUSE

Coming soon will be the new firehouse that will serve our community.  This will now be able to house our larger fire trucks.

Regency Car Club Road Rally Update

The Regency Car Club Annual Road Rally will be held Sunday, August 19.  This year’s rally will be dedicated to past rally master Julie Wilner, who passed away last year.

You and your navigator will drive some of the beautiful back roads of New Jersey looking for answers to some thought provoking questions.

At the end of the rally there will be an all you can eat brunch buffet.  It will have breakfast items including omelet and waffle stations.  Also chicken and pasta dishes along with a carving station.  It includes soft drinks in addition to desserts and coffee.

As you enjoy the brunch you will review the answers and we’ll present the awards.

The cost for the driver and navigator is $60 for the rally and brunch.  Please email RegencyCarClub@gmail.com  to reserve your spot as this event usually sells out.

There are only a few spots left so sign up as soon as possible!  When we have 30 cars others will be placed on a waiting list.
