REGENCY AT MONROE NEWS UPDATE DECEMBER 9, 2017

HOW TO SAVE SOME MONEY WITH COMCAST

As we all know we are dealing with a company that sometimes makes us crazy. However, I did something about 2 months ago and what I did another resident did almost the same thing and he also is saving money.

How many times have we called Comcast and ask for a promotional rate and their answer was BULK CUSTOMERS DON’T RECEIVE PROMOTIONAL RATES.

So independent of each other, myself and a resident called Comcast and asked a simple question: “HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY ON MY BILL WITHOUT LOSING ANY OF MY CURRENT SERVICES?” The answer was, we have a PROMOTION that would save you money.  The promotion would not only keep my current services but it will add STARZ FOR FREE.  Sign me up!!!

We all know that looking at your Comcast bill is worse then looking at your tax forms. So, I will take out the premium movies I ordered during the month and all the other services remained the same until the Starz promotion began

My August bill $174  (bill before promotion with Starz)

My Nov. bill     $138  (bill once Starz promotion began)

My Dec. bill     $154 (current bill with Comcast raising prices to all customers)

So I basically saved around $36 a month once the PROMOTION kicked in but then we got hit with price increases in Dec so my price savings was reduced to $20 a month.

Can I ask one simple question? Where is our Board?  Are they all in Florida?  I even wrote them and no esponse.  I guess they might not like what I do.  Who cares!!  If what I do can save residents money, then this is my goal.

(NOTE:  I DID HEAR FROM STU GOLDSTEIN BEFORE THIS EMAIL WENT OUT.  HOPEFULLY HE AND THE BOARD WILL BECOME INVOLVED)

Now, to protect us and me, I asked the question that since the STARZ promotion is one year, can I cancel at anytime? Answer was Bulk customers can cancel without any penalties.

My suggestion is to call Comcast, ask the question that I wrote above and if they say no promotion, I give you permission to let them access my bill to show that I have the Starz Promotion. By the way, as I mentioned, it is very difficult to determine where the savings show up.  I think in my case, there was a reduction of my internet (BLAST) that I was paying $75/month which was on my August bill but it is hard to determine what it is on my current bill because it is in more than one place with credits given.

With regard to our upcoming contract the decision should be based upon a consensus of what RESIDENTS WANT DONE. I am hoping that our Board will give us various options and then as a group we decide what option we should go with.

(NOTE: I JUST HEARD FROM A RESIDENT THAT ASKED FOR THE STARZ PROMOTION AND NOW COMCAST IS SAYING THERE IS NO STARZ PROMOTION.  SO WAS THIS ANOTHER MISTAKE BY COMCAST.  THE FIRST BEING THE $6 SNOWBIRD RATE GIVEN TO A REGENCY RESIDENT AND NOW DISCOUNTS TO TWO MORE RESIDENTS FOR A “PROMOTION” THAT WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE.   I’LL LET OUR BOARD DEAL WITH THIS AND I WILL LET THE BOARD SEND OUT A MESSAGE TO RESIDENTS AS TO WHAT IS GOING ON WITH COMCAST.  AFTER ALL, THEY SIGNED THE CONTRACT.)

CELLPHONE NUMBERS UPDATED

On the black bar under REGENCY EMAILER you will see CELLPHONE NUMBERS. This list has just been updated.

My next list to update is HIGH SCHOOLS which can be found on the black bar. If you wish to be included send me an email.  rpost@monmouth.com

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK I SHOULD DO

Many times I get into issues that affect all residents of Regency. At one time, I would give my opinion and then write what other residents feel about the issue.  For the “oldtimers” of Regency, I once wrote about the possibility of the intersection on Schoolhouse Road and 522 adding a small shopping area.  I said yes and another resident said no.  Well if you think my emails are too lengthy right now, it will definitely get to be many pages longer and the back and forth comments can last for weeks.

Remember we are a community of almost 1000 homes. I now have 1400 email addresses and if I receive even 25 responses, how can I pick and choose which responses should go into my emails without upsetting those residents who sent me responses that I don’t include?  Should I summarize 25 emails? Frankly I spend enough time already without adding more time in doing something like this.

So, what do you think I should do? During the week I will send out an email regarding what my emails will NO LONGER be involved with. I have to downsize my job to a point where I can spend no more than 8 hours a day doing emailing.

FUNNY RESIDENT STORY’S

Well here is another funny story that happened too, of course, THE POST’S.

Many years ago about four couples (friends) decided that we would all go to Mexico. Almost on the first day we met this couple who lived in New Jersey and they became part of our group.

On the last day, before leaving Mexico, Greta told everyone that she was happy to be going home because she will be her best friends Matron of Honor. The new guy in our group said, “that’s funny, I’m going home to be my best friend’s Best Man at his wedding.  You guessed it!  It was the same wedding!

Now a fishy story from a resident

A husband and wife were going to visit friends. The wife says to the husband, “something smells fishy in the car.  It almost smells as if we were going over water.”  The husband replied, “We are going over water, we are driving over the bridge”.

I asked the resident if they stopped to put a fishing pole in the water?

Regency Bowling League Results. – 2017 Fall Season

The 2017 fall bowling season of the Regency Bowling League began in late August and ended in the first week in December.   It consisted of 13 three member teams that bowled from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings at the Knob Hill Country Lanes on Route 33. Each team faced every other team once.  The informal 13 week competition for gold, silver, and bronze awards was not only fun and friendly but also pretty fierce. The first three team positions were all decided in the final week.  Awards for all the winning bowlers will be presented at the annual meeting in August.  The results are:

First place – Barry Margolis, Larry Kosofsky, Bill Palmieri

Second place – Stu Loss, Lou Gerber, Phil Fishman

Third place – Bruce Kapp, Peter Fiorello, Russ Porges

High average – 197. Stu Loss

High series – 691. Stu Loss

High game – 257.   Bill Andruzzi

Kudos to all the winners! The spring bowling season is tentatively scheduled to start on Thursday evening, March 29, 2018. All bowlers, even it’s been 30 years since your last game, are welcome.  If you, or anyone you know, might be interested in joining the 2018 spring season, please contact Russ Porges 732-561-2301, or Ping Eng 732-521-550.

It is good exercise and a great way to spend with neighbors.

In the meantime until march 29, there is informal bowling every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Knob Hill Country Lanes.
