Regency At Monroe News Update

UPDATE ON MY WEBSITE

After spending many (and I mean many) hours trying to get my website on Startlogic to work, Arthur Ehrlich and I agreed to end my contract with Startlogic and to have my website run through GO DADDY.  So the other day I signed a three year contract with GO DADDY.

Arthur, is just AMAZING.  He has put in many more hours then me of course, since I know nothing about creating a website.  He has consented to send out this week’s email by running it  through his website.  He believes and I hope  it  happens,  that by next Saturday, my GO DADDY website will be  up and running.

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR COMMISSIONERS FIRE DISTRICT 3:

WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE FIREHOUSE LOCATED AT SCHOOLHOUSE ROAD AND BUCKELEW AVENUE. THE BUILDING IS OUTDATED AND IT IS GOING TO NEED AROUND ONE MILLION DOLLARS FOR A RENOVATION. THE BOARD FEELS THAT SPENDING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR AN OLD BUILDING WOULD NOT BE COST EFFECTIVE. THE TOWNSHIP ALLOCATED AN ACRE OF LAND DIRECTLY BEHIND THE EXISTING FIREHOUSE TO BE USED FOR A NEW FIREHOUSE. AFTER COMPLETION, THE OLD FIREHOUSE CAN BE DEMOLISHED.  THIS WAY IT WOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH FIRE OPERATIONS.

YOUR FIRE COMMISSIONERS ARE COMMUNICATING WITH THE TOWNSHIP, TRYING TO CONVINCE THEM TO STATION ONE OF THEIR AMBULANCES IN THE NEW QUARTERS. BY HAVING AN AMBULANCE THIS CLOSE TO REGENCY WOULD SAVE US TWO TO THREE PRECIOUS MINUTES OF RESPONSE TIME.

THE FIRE DISTRICT 3 BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS FEEL THAT THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME FOR US TO UNDERTAKE THIS PROJECT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE OUTSTANDING BOND AT OUR OTHER FIREHOUSE AT 16 CENTRE DRIVE WILL BE PAID OFF IN 2018.

THE ARCHITECT INFORMED US THAT THE COST WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 2.6 MILLION DOLLARS AND OUR BOND COUNSELOR IS WORKING ON A 15 YEAR FIXED RATE LOAN. BECAUSE WE HAVE  A DOUBLE A PLUS RATING, WE SHOULD GET A LOW RATE OF INTEREST. ALSO OUR BOARD ACCOUNTANT TOLD US THAT OUR FUTURE BUDGET WOULD NOT BE IMPACTED AND WILL REMAIN UNDER THE TWO PERCENT CAP. WE DO NOT EXPECT ANY INCREASE IN OUR FIRE TAX.

WE WILL BE ASKING FOR YOUR SUPPORT SOME TIME THIS FALL.

THANK YOU.  YOUR FIRE COMMISSIONERS AT REGENCY.  JOEL KAPLAN, GERALD KAPLAN, JIM FISHER.

EMAILER’S NOTE:  WHEN OUR RESIDENT FIRE COMMISSIONERS TELL US IT’S TIME, WE WILL HAVE TO LET THE TOWNSHIP KNOW THAT WE SUPPORT HAVING AN AMBULANCE AT OUR FIRE HOUSE.  THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!

FOREIGN FILM FESTIVAL

TUESDAY,  MAY 16TH,  AT 1 PM IN THE BALLROOM

featuring

“SWEET BEAN”

Sweet Bean is a new (2016) interesting and enjoyable movie.  A Japanese baker of sweet red bean paste (a delicacy) hires a 76 year old woman to be his assistant.  She adjusts his recipe to her own tastier one and the business flourishes.   It is a sentimental story of community, lonely lives, old age and compassion.  The film is beautifully photographed.    113 mts

Please note that my husband, my daughter and I enjoyed watching this movie together.

A discussion will follow the presentation

Paid up members may bring a spouse or guest.

PLEASE RSVP TO JOAN BLITZ 656-4540 or jgdblitz2004@yahoo.com

 NO MOVIE IN JUNE

 THE REGENCY FISHING CLUB

The Regency Fishing Club will start setting dates for our trips as the season progresses, Presently Striped Bass are being caught off Sandy Hook in the area of Old Orchard. We have had fish up to 32lbs. but are only catching fish on the troll, bait fishing on the party boats have been very slow and spotty because there is no live bait in the area and the fish are scattered all over.

Within the next two weeks we will plan a trip on the Dauntless sailing out of Point Pleasant for bottom fishing for Ling, Cod, Pollack, Seabass and Blackfish, if in season. If bait fishing for Striped Bass improves we could sail on the Fisherman or the Prowler V sailing out of Atlantic Highlands.

If interested in being notified of our upcoming trips please e-mail Neil Zipkin  nzipkin@arelaw.com.

Our meetings are the third Monday of each month in the clubhouse at 7:00 in the Arts and Crafts room, all are welcome. All our trips are open to all our residents their families, grandchildren and friends, please join us.
