RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR.

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.

Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.. The

stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people

nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by

asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)

              (i…e. Chicken Soup)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke ——–

                Stick out Your Tongue!

NOTE: Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is this: Ask the person to ‘stick’ out his tongue. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

(Thank you Rich Strug, our VENDORMAN, for providing us with this information)

HADASSAH MESSAGE

JOIN REGNCY HADASSAH ON MONDAY, MARCH 19 AT 7PM IN THE BALLROOM AT THE CLUBHOUSE TO WATCH THE UNDENIABLY POWERFUL MOVIE

“LA RAFLE”

On July 16, 1942, French police carried out an extensive raid on Jews in greater Paris, resulting in the arrest of more than 13,000 people — including 4,000 children.  After spending several miserable days in the Vélodrome d’Hiver stadium at the apex of summer with little food or water, families were deported to internment camps elsewhere in France and then, finally, to Auschwitz. With its emotionally astute and sensitive exploration of a long taboo subject in France Jacques Chirac issued a public apology to the citizens of France only in 1995 — the raid, its political backdrop and the exquisite and poignant beauty of Paris during war time are brought to stirring life in writer-director Rose Bosch’s new French cinema classic.

NOT RECEIVING MY EMAILS?

A few residents have written me that they haven’t received my emails. I found many reasons for this happening.  Sometimes my emails go into your SPAM or JUNK folders, so please check.  Also, please add rpost@monmouth.com into your email address book.

There are times that someone’s email address just drops off because I see it on my Master list but it isn’t on my GoDaddy list.

Since this represents just a handful of residents, the easiest way of correcting it is just to send out a regular email to these residents copying the message that is going out in GoDaddy. So, any problems, please let me know

HAS YOUR DISABILITY PLACARD EXPIRED?

My Placard has expired (last year). So I wasn’t familiar with how to renew the Placard.  Going online is like going through a maze of pages.  Finally I located what needs to be done.  Here is what is needed.

The law requires that persons with a disability be recertified every three years in order obtain a new placard. Please review the application and checklist for recertification instructions.

I have the completed application with the medical script.

Can I mail it in?

Yes, you can mail it to:

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission

 Special Plate Unit

 225 East State Street

 PO Box 015

 Trenton, NJ 08666-0015

Application processing will take approximately four to six weeks.

What do I do with the old placard?

The old style placard may be surrendered at a motor vehicle agency or mailed to:

New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission

 Special Plate Unit

 225 East State Street

 PO Box 015

 Trenton, NJ 08666-0015

Finding the form was again another half hour. So to make things easier just click on this link and you can fill it out – go to your physician to sign it and make sure he gives you a prescription for renewing your Placard.
