MESSAGE FROM STEVE RIBACK REGARDING MT. MILLS TRAFFIC
Dear Friends,
First, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank those of you who attended the Town Council meeting on July 5th to support the issue I raised concerning the traffic on Mounts Mills Rd. Your presence certainly added to our argument.
As an update, I would like to notify you that this morning, I received an email from our town engineer, Mark Rasimowicz. He informed me that Mayor Tamburro has corresponded with the County Administrator and Engineer. In his written correspondence, he requested that the County evaluate the intersection of Mounts Mills Rd and Englishtown Rd to determine the necessary measures to improve that intersection. This is a required first step toward any improvements to that intersection. Mr. Rasimowics also has reached out to the County Engineer directly.
At that meeting, I also requested that they look into creating dedicated left turn lanes into Monroe Parke’s commercial area from Mounts Mills Rd. Mr. Rasimowics informed me that they are not proposed by the developer at this time; however, he understands our concern and said that he will monitor the Mounts Mills access as the site develops. When the applicant returns to the board it can be revisited. There are, however, left-turn lanes proposed off of Spotswood Englishtown Rd into the development and at the proposed traffic signal at Spotswood Enlishtown and Mounts Mills.
This is only a step and I am grateful to the mayor as well as Marc Rasimowics for their quick and positive response to our concerns. But we must continue to bring this issue to the town government whether it be in writing or addressing the Town Council. I am still concerned that the current plans do not show a dedicated left turn lane into Monroe Parke from Mounts Mills Rd (between Spotswood Englishtown Rd and Englishtown Rd). The commercial space there will foster even more traffic and create congested and potentially dangerous driving conditions.
I will provide further updates as they arrive.

If you are a Democrat you probably received in the mail the letter from these 3 Legislator’s writing about the “Senior Freeze.” They probably read my email from last week and said, “not a bad idea to send something like this out before our election.”
Regency, I never ask much, but I will ask you NOT to vote for these 3 legislator’s in the November elections. This is exactly what they do just prior to an election. Where was this letter when NJ instituted the “senior freeze?”
It is appalling that there was not even ONE MENTION of what, if anything, they are doing to get the State to properly fund us for education. Their letter will help just some residents. Getting proper funding for education, will affect all residents. Yet they sit back and do nothing and other townships like Freehold get millions of dollars for State aid for education plus money to build new schools.
Imagine, not one word in their letter deals with our getting one of the lowest amounts per student for State Aid.

Regency Bowling Captures Olympic Silver
On Saturday morning, July 15, at the refurbished Strathmore Lanes in Matawan, the Regency bowling teams captured Olympic silver. Fourteen communities from Middlesex and Monmouth Counties participated and were divided into three divisions. Each team had to have at least one woman bowler. Regency bowled in Division 1 this year. Each division has its own gold, silver, and bronze medal winners. Having 14 three or four-member teams compete at the same time on 44 lanes at one venue created quite a chaotic, exciting event.
Only the past two Olympic averages were used as opening averages. New bowlers established their opening averages with this year’s three games. Regency swept one match against Stonebridge, won two games and total wood from Clearbrook, but lost three games to Greenbriar/Whittingham for a total of 12 points. Greenbriar/Whittingham won gold with 14 points. The Regency highlights were Mark Spinner’s series of 663 including a 258 game, Gary Ferrazzano’s game of 232, Neil Sohmer’s game of 225, Leo Friedlich’s game of 216, and Roger Dantoni’s game of 206.

The Regency Car Club will be holding their annual road rally on Sunday, August 20. You and your navigator will take a scenic drive through the back roads of New Jersey while looking for clues to many interesting questions.
The rally will conclude at the clubhouse with a delicious lunch by Sir Ives Catering.

REGENCY MEN’S CLUB BUS TRIP TO THE EASTERN STATE PENITENIARY
On September 6, 2017, the Men’s Club will be taking a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary (ESP). This is an Historic Landmark that was built in 1829 and remained operational until 1971.
In the past we visited at Halloween as the ultimate House of Terror. Now we will see it in the daylight as it is. Still scary! Club members and their significant others are invited. There will be a one-hour guided tour, and then we will be left to wander to other areas of the prison on our own. Some of the highlights will be Al Capone’s elaborate cell, the prison Synagogue, and more.
The bus will leave at 9:00 a.m. from the Clubhouse and return approximately 5:00 p.m. After the tour, we will enjoy a casual lunch at the London Grill, a short walk from the ESP. Total cost will be $70/pp. Lunch includes a starter (soup, house or Caesar salad), dessert and choice of coffee, tea or soft drinks. Cash bar available.

Every Friday at 1:00 in the multimedia room ACBL masters are available to help you with your bidding and play. Many of you have been taking bridge classes on Tuesday evening and many of you have been playing for a while. Now come down to the Open Bridge sessions and practice what you learned under the guidance of masters. This is not a bridge class. This is playing and learning proper bidding and more importantly the play of the hands.

Regency at Monroe Bridge Organization (RAMBO)
We play duplicate bridge at the clubhouse every Tuesday evening. These games are sanctioned by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) and we award internationally recognized Master points to many of the players each week.
We play a social game and welcome players of all skill levels who wish to expand their bridge capabilities.
Our games begin at 7:00 PM sharp – but if you want to come, please be at the back ballroom by about 6:45 to allow for checking in. We have the most reasonably priced game around and we include snacks and soft drinks too.

GL homes is lobbying to have that zoning changed so that is can build on those preserved lands.
