A MESSAGE FROM OUR VENDORMAN, RICH STRUG, ABOUT REPLACING DRIVEWAYS
As our community ages and the need to replace driveways becomes necessary, finding contractors could be a problem.
Several residents have shared with me their frustrations in having paving and asphalt vendors return calls, let alone coming out for an estimate.
The biggest problem for the vendor is the amount of heavy duty equipment required to break up existing driveways, cart the debris away, lay stone if necessary, use heavy rollers to secure the stone, and come back two to three weeks later to again bring back all the equipment to install the asphalt. Using the same amount of equipment and man power, they can do commercial parking lots, highways, and new construction.
As a result of the many inquiries and the dearth of recommendations for this type of vendor, I have contacted three paving companies and requested that they send me quotes for doing three and five plus driveways, at the same time, to entice them to consider coming to Regency. When this information is compiled, I will share it with the community.
The new CVL for October has two vendors listed under Driveway Replacement and Sealing that you might want to contact.
Hope this helps,
Rich

FOREIGN FILM FESTIVAL
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 17th at 1 PM in the BALLROOM
featuring
“THE BAND’S VISIT”
This is a wonderful movie which is now being shown as a Broadway Musical. If you can’t get a ticket or go to NYC come to the showing of this film which was produced in 2007. It is about a Ceremonial Police Band from Egypt that journeys to Israel. Their transportation at the airport does not show up. From this point the comedy starts with the group trapped in the middle of a desert town. The Egyptian band members and the Israeli residents befriend one another which leads to insights into each others cultural identities. 1hr. 29 mts.
A discussion will follow the presentation.
Paid up members may bring a spouse or guest. PLEASE RSVP to Joan Blitz 656-4540 or jgdblitz2004@yahoo.com
PS: I did show it in 2013.
A MESSAGE FROM MARK KLEIN
I am seeing signs up in Monroe Twp., that the MTEA has not reached agreement on a new three year contract with our Board of Education. The teachers are entitled to raises but in a district that is very, very underfunded from the State, with residents young and old being taxed out of their homes. Where does the additional money come from?
Now, because of the excuse of affordable housing by the State Legislature and used by the big developers, has led to the overcrowding of our school district. Last year our district was 1,000 over capacity and growing each year, creating a need for two new schools and the expansion of our 6 year old high school.
As an ex-MT Board of Education board member, over six years ago I asked leadership of the MTEA to get us help and support from the NJEA, the most powerful Union in New Jersey, to no avail. We tried to get help from Senator Greenstein and Assemblymen Benson and DeAngelo and they could not do anything to help us get our fair share in State Education Funding. Does Monroe Twp. have to do what Lakewood did last year, by announcing they would layoff 118 teachers. Then the state gave them an additional $11 million to save the jobs.
What does it take to wake up the NJEA to help their members in Monroe Twp as well as proper funding from the state, to greatly lower our property taxes.
