POLLING REGENCY RESIDENTS
With my new website I can now take polls of Regency residents and what WE as residents would like to see happen here at Regency.
Not everyone goes to the clubhouse and polling via emailing might be the most accurate way of knowing what residents want.
Naturally not everything can be polled. For example, if we didn’t have a hot water heater in our outdoor pool, many residents who don’t use the pool would vote NO. Since their are a great number of residents who don’t go to the pool, then polling will be inaccurate since it would favor the lower number of residents who go to the pool and who would say YES vs. those that don’t go and they would say NO. This would have to be a Board decision.
However, we all leave and enter through the front gate and each residents opinion should be counted since it will affect all of us.
If I had this polling ability when we decided to refurbish our clubhouse, I would have sent it out asking what residents wanted to do. The poll would say
DO NOTHING
SPEND $100,000
SPEND $300,000
SPEND $500,000
HAVE TOLL PAY X %
As you know we spent $500,000 but based upon the comments stated when we met in the clubhouse, it was obvious that the majority was totally against spending this much money.
Now for the Poll below, click on the box below the pictures showing the design you would want. I was told the following:
The design with the brown roof’s – the roof is copper. The height of the entrance will allow trucks to pass under it and not destroy the roofs. There is another passing lane on each side of the gatehouse. This passing lane will not have a roof over it.
It should be noted that our Board can use my Poll or any Poll they are using but it is my firm belief that this should be the way the Board will deal with many of our expenses which may require input from residents.
RICH LANS SAYS GOODBYE TO JENNIFER
As you know Rich will be leaving the Board and I found him and Jennifer in the clubhouse so I took their picture (NICE PICTURE)
MARK KLEIN’S LETTER TO THE EDITOR REGARDING OUR STATE AID FOR EDUCTION
Letter to the Editor,
In the June 18, 2017 HNT Our View, School aid formula ‘fix’ flawed only tells part of the story. The 2008 School Funding Reform Act was ordered by then Governor Corzine to have the State Legislature design a funding formula. As is the case in the past this was done quickly with no thought of equity or fairness in funding to the suburban school districts. At that time about 55% of the total State budget for education was going to 31 Abbott Title One under- performing districts, so 45% had to be distributed to well over 500 other districts. This formula was flawed and unfair from day one. Since 2008 this formula could have easily been updated and changed by the Legislature, but as usual they did nothing.
Now here are some facts; last November it was reported in this paper that Freehold Boro with 1,700 children, 400 over capacity and already receiving $9.7 million in State aid to their school district, was awarded a grant of $33 million by then Commissioner of Education Hespe to expand their schools. Hespe stated that “because of the large influx of children of illegal immigrants their schools are over-crowded and that students cannot get a Thorough and Efficient education as stated in the State Constitution in over-crowded classrooms”. Hespe continues “I cannot see putting more of the tax burden on the already overtaxed residents of Freehold Boro.
Now let us compare this to the Monroe Twp. School District. We have over 6,500 students and growing by upwards of 250 new students each year. We are over 1,000 over capacity and only receive $3 million in state aid, less than $400 per student. So when you report that we are getting 18% more in this new plan, it only equates to $512,000. Our School budget grows by about $3 million per year so that increase does nothing to help us. Because of the over-crowding we must build a new Elementary School, a new Middle School and a new wing on our 6 year old High School, with no help from the State. So the Monroe Twp. students cannot get a Thorough and Efficient education and the well overtaxed, overburdened Monroe Twp. Residents can no longer afford the ultra high School Taxes with no help from our elected representatives in Trenton or the State. Residents young and old are being taxed out of their homes.
By the way, in this new $146 million program as an example, Atlantic City will receive $6.5 million more, Newark will receive $7.5 million more, New Brunswick will receive $3.3 million more and Perth Amboy will receive $1 million more, these are Abbott Districts already receiving well over $200 million each already and are still failing. Hundreds of billions have already been wasted on the failing 31 Abbott Title One districts, now give them more. Does not make sense!

STEVE RIBACK’S EMAIL REGARDING THE INTERSECTION AT MT. MILLS ROAD AND ENGLISHTOWN ROAD
Dear Neighbors,
Please allow me to begin by saying that I am not writing as a Bd. of Education member, but rather as a private citizen; nor is what I am saying necessarily a reflection of the Bd. of Education’s views.
It’s been a while since I’ve written, but a topic has come up that I believe I need your help with. As many of you know, before being elected to the Bd. of Ed, I was quite involved in opposing the developments we are seeing all around us. The state laws, unfortunately, favor the developers. Have you ever driven on Mounts Mills Rd. going toward Englishtown Rd.on a weekend? Getting onto Enlishtown Rd is a near impossibility which backs up traffic on Mounts Mills and, in my opinion, is an accident waiting to happen. There is no light there and that stop sign just can’t control the flow of traffic. To make matters worse, the developer is, if my memory serves me correctly, only widening the shoulder on Mounts Mills. I complained about this when those plans were initially presented to the town. If there is going to be an entrance to Monroe Parke on Mounts Mills Rd, then that road should be widened and have a dedicated lane for turning into the development. Not doing so would back up traffic further.
I intend to bring this matter to the town council on Wednesday, July 5th at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building. If you agree with me, please join me as a large number of residents gets noticed and quite often results.
Hope to see you there,
Steve Riback
(EMAILER’S NOTE: STEVE, YOU ARE SO RIGHT. I WAS AT THIS INTERSECTION WITH ABOUT 25 CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND IT TOOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES TO MAKE A LEFT ON ENGLISHTOWN ROAD. IF YOU ARE UNSUCCESSFUL, LET’S TRY HAVING THE COMMUNITY EMAIL THE MAYOR)
LARRY CAINS GETS A HOLE IN ONE
Yes, Larry’s hole in one is confirmed by his foursome – Ron Post, Jerry Scott and Jules Weissman who witnessed this amazing shot on Hole 10 at the Meadows.
As soon as he hit the ball, I yelled, “hope it lands in the sand trap”. Jerry yelled, “it hit the top of the sand trap”. Jules yelled, “it’s rolling towards the hole”. Larry yelled, “Sandy, make it happen” and of course it did happen.
So Larry joins the elite golfers from Regency who have gotten a hole in one. The leader so far is Jack Barton, who has gotten 4 holes in one.
Congratulations, Larry and of course you know that this happened because of my excellent instructions.

Regency Bowling League Results – 2017 Spring Season
The 2017 spring season of the Regency Bowling League began in late March and ended in mid-June. It consisted of 11 three member teams that bowled from 6:45 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings at the Knob Hill Country Lanes on Route 33. Each team bowled against every other team once. The last week was position week when the first place team bowled against the second place team, the third place team bowled against the fourth place team, etc. The informal twelve week competition for first, second, and third place was fierce, friendly and fun…and exciting. The first three team positions including a tie for second place were all decided in the last games of final week. Awards for all the winning bowlers will be presented at the annual bowling breakfast scheduled in July. The results of the spring season:
First Place Team – Gary Roth, David Mail, Roger Dantoni
Second Place Team (tie) – Steve Strauss, Bill Chrietzberg, Ping Eng
Second Place Team (tie) – Herb Cohen, Bob Schaffter, Neil Sohmer
Third place Team – Ed Liberston, Mark Greenstein, Bill Andruzzi
Individual High Average – 193 Bill Andruzzi
Individual High Series – 703 Phil Fishman
Individual High Game (tie) – 256 Phil Fishman, Neil Sohmer, Bill Andruzzi
Hearty congratulations to all team and individual winners! The league is eager to have new (and old) residents to share the fun of bowling. It’s good exercise and a great way to socialize with your neighbors.
The 2017 fall bowling season is scheduled to start in late August. All bowlers, even if it’s been 30 years since your last game, are welcome. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in joining the 2017 fall session, please contract Russ Porges 732-561-2301, or Ping Eng 732-521-5508.
During the summer, we have informal, practice bowling at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening at Knob Hill County Lanes.
Ping Eng
(EMAILER’S NOTE: I ALMOST BOWLED A 256 BUT IT WAS FOR 3 GAMES. NOW THIS PART I AM NOT JOKING ABOUT. GRETA IN OUR “YOUNGER DAYS” BOWLED ON A WOMEN’S BOWLING TEAM AND IN ONE THREE GAME SERIES SHE BOWLED, 236, 224 AND A 207. THE LEAGUE CALLED HER BECAUSE SHE WON PRACTICALLY EVERY TROPHY AND THEY ASKED IF THEY CAN GIVE SOME TO OTHER PLAYERS. OF COURSE SHE SAID YES AND WHEN WE MOVED I THINK I NEEDED A SEPARATE MOVER TO MOVE ALL THE TROPHIES SHE RECEIVED OVER THE YEARS SHE PLAYED).

SOL LURIE, A HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR
July 17, 2017 at 7pm in the Regency Club House Ballroom
OPEN TO EVERYONE!
Sol Lurie, a Holocaust survivor and member of the Monroe Ricklis group, who endured no less than 6 concentration camps shares his message of hope, forgiveness and survival. Crammed inside of a dark room with other Jewish prisoners, at the age of 14, Sol Lurie did not know he was about to be murdered by the Nazis in the gas chambers during the Holocaust. More than 70 years later, Lurie can only describe what occurred next as a miracle. Sol Lurie will offer us not just a night of remembering, but a night of learning what strength and solidarity our people had despite the difficulties and challenges endured and that there is still a way to come out of something like he did with love and respect for all people. Mr. Lurie views his story as a vehicle to show others the tragedies of discrimination and why mankind should avoid it. Something to think about in an age of fear of terrorism throughout the world.
Refreshments to be served. Open to all. RSVP to Genia Beeferman at genhow181@gmail.com or call 732-656-4525 or Leslie Kohn at holekow@gmail.com or call 732-656-1412.
